I've read that on many cars now, you'd have to be a super shifter to do any better shifting gears in your car than the auto transmission can do. In other words, for the vast majority of drivers, you can't do better with the stick than the auto trans does.

When it comes to the iAuto function on the FZ18, it seems that it does SO much for you, that it's hard to adjust parameters enough for each shot to get a better picture that iA will get for you. So much so I'm wondering if the reason you can't shoot RAW in iA is that Panasonic felt that then folks wouldn't try the other modes...

I've played around with a number of the modes over the last week, and I think I'm doing some good things now that I understand what they do - however I do find myself thinking that as often as not the iA version would be as good.

Just curious what y'all think?

I I shoot a lot in IA, but I also use the other modes as well, IA is great when I have to get a quick shot.
