Thirumalai Nayak palace, built in the 1630s, is a tourist attraction in Madurai. Though only a fourth of the palace remains, it is an impressive structure with huge pillars and a huge hall. A few snaps here, and some more at http://www.flickr.com/photos/raghu_a...7604409923591/

There are so many pillars, all of them huge, that they literally block your way. Elaborate art work at the top of the pillars, where two pillars join to form an arch, are worth recording.

The spacious, high-roof dance hall with stained glass windows at the top has now been converted into a small museum displaying sculpture, pottery and other relics of the past. C&C welcome, either here or at flickr.

Great photos, Raghu!

You always seem to get some real excitment into your photos. That's a rather unique ability!
