I have really enjoyed owning the tz3 with one exception - having difficulty seeing thru the lcd screen in bright sunsshine. The tz5 has a higher resolution sreen does this solve this problem?

The improved LCD screen is supposed to improve viewing with the screen in bright sunlight, as it has an auto brightness increase feature for the LCD screen, as well.

Penny-

My TZ-5 just arrived. After some hands on testing here is what I have found out.

With the sun overhead, or falling directly on the TZ-5's LCD screen, visibility becomes somewhat marginal. When shooting from the shade and out into the sunshine there was no problem at all. When I took the attachedphoto, the LCD did not have sun brightly shinning directly on the LCD and I found framing the photo was much easier.

Thank-you for the info on the Tz5 LCD screen. I am simply looking for reasons to purchase the TZ5. The Tz3 is almost a perfect camera for my needs. It is great to take on backpacking trips.

Penny-

I was waiting to make a judgement based on my in hand camera handling of the TZ-5. I will tell you quite honestly that I sincerely believe that Panasonic has indeed made a very sizable leap forward with the TZ-5 when compared to the TZ-3.

Personally, I am very pleased that I made the decision to go with the the new TZ-5.
