Congratulations, Arf-

Well done. You have an excellent camera and printer. Post some photos when you have a chance.

Have a great day!

am now playing with it...

first question...I thought the hookup was a standard mini- USB cable on the camera side..but all my standard cables don't fit??? Is it a proprietary cable???

It was a stretch for me to buy my first non AA battery camera...as I like standardization....

Arf-

Yes, it is a propietary cable. However, all you have to do is to purchas an inexpensive chip/card reader, and you are now free of a lot of those cables.

Have a great day!

I've been away for about 10 days so this morning is my first read of this thread. Just days before the initial post, I was at the Vanns Missoula store. That 'brick and mortar' store had the FZ18 in stock.

And just minutes ago, I checked their web page (vanns.com)...black FZ18 quoted at $298.99.

It's sad, becausein Canada the price of the Fz18 is 449$! And guess what? Right now, most retailer are out of stock!

I think I'll have to order minefrom the US!

BTW,anyone noticed that the older FZ8 is discontinued?
