just called Panasonic about the TZ5 Auto Focus performance issue. The person I spoke with told me she just received a link from which v1.13 firmware can be downloaded. Sure enough, it's there! She also explained that v1.15, that some people have reported, was created to address "production changes" that do not have anything to do with the camera's performance. The firmware Panasonicis releasing today isclearly marked as being for U.S. / North American TZ5's. Anyone from outside this area will have to contact Panasonic in their country. It looks like Panasonic just took the final step to becoming a world class digital camera manufacturer!

here is the link http://www.pasctraining.panasonic.com/firmware/

Hi,

Use PhotoME. You can download it here:http://www.photome.de/

It's free to use and reads the EXIF info of any pic taken with the TZ5.

Under Manufacturer Notes you can read the firmware version.

WoW! OMG!

A firmware release from Panasonic!

All of a sudden my interest in a FZ60 is re-kindled.

Ok, I updated the firmware of my TZ5... can't say I can notice any difference, but at least I can confirm that updating works, and that the file linked on top of this thread won't fry your camera

I've applied firmware updates for plasma TV's from the pasc site - it's legit. Just make sure you have solid power during the update - fresh batteries or a UPS backup like I used for when I flashed the TV.
