Hi,

I've ordered a 14B Teleconvertor for my Lumix FZ20. I believe the 14B screws to the standard (plastic) Lumix Lens ring using a 62/72 adapter.

Just a little concerned that the 14B is quite heavy - is it ok attaching it in this way, or is it better to use a metal lens ring?

Also, what do people use as a hood on the 14B

thanks in advance.

Neil.

It does not work as you suggest......the Panasonic adapter sets the TC much too far from the camera lens........and the 14B has 62mm threads.....Now to get an adapter that will work on the FZ20 may be a little difficult......Phayee made a good one as did Lovelife, and Pemaraal...

This adapter along with a 52mm to 62mm step up ring will work.....if I find others I will post a link for you as will other folks I am sure......but you do need a 3rd party adapter....

http://cgi.ebay.com/52mm-LENS-Filter...d=p3286.c0.m14

This one will also work with a 58 to 62 stepup ring

If all else fails get in touch with me, as I may have one or two laying around here somewhere.

Here is a good read on how this all works. The FZ10 and 20 are Identical as far as the adapters go.

As far as the hood I believe the 14B takes 86mm thread on hood or you can make one......I am not sure what I have laying around, I do know I have a 14B I could part with, and I am sure I have some parts ,but I will need to look for them.

I may have discarded those accessories,as I have not used that stuff for a few years.

Bugeyedigital still has adapters for the FZ10,15 and 20. I use them on my FZ10,20 all the time and put the 1540 Raynox 1.54x high definition telephoto lens. Get a step ring 52-62 as well. I use a UV filter as a spacer and maintain metal threads on the Raynox since it is plastic. This has no effect on the image quality, sharpness and detail. A spacer ring in my opinion would not make much difference in the distance from the lens of the camera.

Many thanks for the info,

let me check with my local camera dealer to see if I can find the adapters you mention, or similar. If I do get stuck I'll post again.

Best regards

Is it OK to use Nikon 6T on FZ20 default adapter with 72/62 step down ring?

I believe it it OK to use a 6T with the stock adapter, but it will be more prone to lens flare and ghosting (and I would think a lack of contrast).....but if you are careful about stray light I think it will work fine.

But I have always had 3rd party adapters, so I can not be positive.

The same holds true for filters.....very easy to pick up stray light with the filter that far from the lens.

Wise:

you only have to mount the 72-62 ring so that the Nikon 6T will stay INSIDE of the FZ20 adapter , rather than outside.
By doing so, you'll have the 6T very very close to the extended FZ20 lens, and the 6T stays inside the adapter.

I have a 5T and 6T and mounted them at both sides of a 72-62 ring, which was threaded on the FZ20 adaptor: so the 5T was outside and the 6T inside the plastic adapter. Posted the picture once on this forum...

Great lenses BTW.

Great Solution! Thanks Narmer, Genec; the place I live is far from USA , therefore hopes of getting a third party adapter are slim. though stepdown ring should not be a problem.

Sounds like you found a solution for a macro lens but if you want an adapter, both of the links I provided ship worldwide.

I use to make and sell the adapter on eBay. I have one Black CRing 62mm adapter remaining. It is perfect for the TCON14B.

Also, have conversion rings 43, 55,58mm that change the adapter with no change in lens position.
