Hello Folks,

I'm hoping someone can help me with some specific questions I have about the Canon SX10 and the Pany FZ28.

I was about the order the SX10 when a savvy friend suggested I consider the FZ28. I have always liked Canon because video is very important to me for my camera purposes. I only carry one camera, period,...... and get satisfactory video results and stills from my Canon A710. The A710 does not zoom during video and I want a little longer zoom for Little League ball games and soccer games. HD is not as important as good autofocus, good sound, good IS, zoom during video, and in camera editing (shortening of clips only).

Most of the reports I've seen on the FZ28 speak highly of it's video but there are many negative comments about the sound during video. If it's not pretty good, that would be a deal breaker for me.

Thanks for any input!

Jack

Hi Setter,

I see you're online rihgt now, so you should go to the Canon forum, find the thread "Canon SX10....the new S6 IS?" or something close to that. He has about 40 still pics and 4 videos all taken with the SX10.

I got a chance to try the SX10 and the Pany FZ28 yesterday. The Pany has stunning HD video but is weak on audio and autofocus. I am going to buy the SX10,,,reluctantly. I wish it had the HD video of the Pany. Overall, it will work better for me.

IMO, the biggest drawback of the Canon SX10 is the weight. It's a heavy camera, about 6 ounces more than the Panasonic FZ28.

Andy,

Yes, it's a lot heavier. My take on it is after it out grows the pocket size, a little extra weight it not important.

I'll wait for SX1 - HD video 1920x1080, that's fine :-)
