Hi all

I have recently purchased a Panasonic FZ28. I have just upgraded from my old Finepix A310, so its going to take some getting use to.

I'm using it on the IA mode to start with but every now and again I get a message come up on the display saying Please open the flash. I can't find the massage in the manual anywhere, not unless I missed it.

1, Is the message normal?

2, If the flash is closed and the camera is in IA mode and it needs the flash should the message come up every time to warn me? (it doesn't)

3, In video mode on playback I sometimes see a small thin vertical black line in the center of the screen ether at the top or in the middle of the video. It appears and disappears when panning around. Is this normal?

Thanks

I have done some experiments and the message only comes up when the IA mode senses that its a portrait photo.
What confused me was that I wasn't taken a portrait shot when I saw the message. I think the camera gets confused on the odd occasion.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Why does the camera only tell me that I need to use the flash in IA mode on portrait photo's only?

Is this normal?

The IA mode is recommending that flash fill will produce the best effect for the situation. The IA could be wrong and, as always, you will need to use your own judgement.
