Its RAW file format can only be processed properly by the Silkypix RAW converter. Barrel distortion is corrected in-camera which is a really cool feature for jpeg and matched by Silkypix Raw converter. Any use of another RAW converter will show the true distortion the lens has captured by the camera without the correction feature.
unfortunately SilkyPix does not allow to switch distortion correction off and it does not correct it completely... plus SilkyPix can't resolve fine details
w/ its demosaicing algorithm... PTLens does corrections much better and supports LX3 raw files - so I am using Rawtherapee v2.4B2 for now and then process its output w/ photoshop/ptlens.

Is the LX3 in-camera JPEG conversion that bad? I don't have this camera but by the sounds of it, it seem an awful lot of work to convert the LX3 RAW file into JPEG. From the images I've seen, the LX3 produces pretty good results right out of the camera.

here's another review of the LX3 - more hands on .. and from what I can tell the LX3 is the possibly the best pocket cam on the market at the mo.

Cheers
