Hi my dear Buddies!

My Computer expert first Son..who also own the same camera...& use the Raw Therapee software instruct me how to add at "preferences" (Files"...the LX-3 Raw which is "rw2"...so now this free Raw converter accepts my "Gem" camera...here a example after "Playing/learning"...how to cope with the "Raw Therapee" software...yes back to my Picasa folder & further the JPG was P.P with "PhotoScape" & back to Picasa for export it to share the finally photo with all of you!

Again still NOT 100% sure, that I will continue shooting RAW...a little bit complicated...+ with JPG directly the inside "Venus IV" proccesor... bring better results with much less complications...as 99.99% I send the photos tough my E-mail account...so shotting RAW...don't REALLY...provide me a much better result...!?

What you think it...wrote me your opinions...please!

Thanks in advance,

Peace,

Alex 007

I could never get myself into the RAW business. I understand its advantages but I think for the most part, the in-camera JPEG conversion works just fine for my needs. I rather spend my time taking pictures than post processing them. I have an Olympus DSLR system (E520 + lenses) and a couple of months ago I decided to shoot RAW+JPEG and play with photo editors processing the RAW files. With very few exceptions, the E520 did a better job converting the images to JPEG. To me, the benefits of shooting RAW are WB and Highlight control. Since most camera's WB perform poorly in artificial light conditions, one can certainly obtain better results shooting RAW and adjusting the WB in PP. The same applies to recovering highlights/shadows (increase DR in other words). If your camera performs real bad in this two areas, then shooting RAW becomes almost a must. Otherwise, my suggestion is...shoot JPEG and save time with PP and space in your memory card and computer HD.

Yes...you are 100% completely right!!!

My lovely "Gem"...now with the updated 1.1 firmware...all works better specially the WB & auto focus issue...so yesterday...after playing with RAW & free RAW converters...etc...decided to return to "Fine" JPG...also for me...using "IA" setting...really all works 99% so good...that RAW...for me it's NO relevant!:P

Peace.

Alex, all your photos are great. I feel the same way about raw at this point.

I do hope that you and yours all have a safe and happy Hanukkah.
