I mounted the camera on a tripod and had another go at getting the focus right. Taken on macro setting, and with auto flash with little ambient light. Not too close, as I was with the 2 rings...

So critique again?

I think it is much better.......just keep practicing if macros are your thing they do require practice.

I see you tried a few of my suggestions.......one more thing, perhaps try diffusing the flash.......perhaps with a piece of frosted plastic.

Thanks Genece.

Not sure macro/close-up is going to be 'my thing', but between working full-time and it being winter (i.e. dark when I leave/get home), the opportunities for nice landscapes etc are a bit limited... so turned to inside stuff and playing with close-ups.

Will keep playing/trying!
