So looking for a new cam lead me to a few Panasonic ones. Yeah, I know what you're thinking, yet one of them looking to by an LX3 or a G1 but NO, these are NOT the ones I'm after ... :-) ... The cam needs to be more slick / compact so I'm thinking of either one of these:
- Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX35
- Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX37
- Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX48 (FX40)[/*]
- Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX500[/*]
- Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX580 (FX550)
These new models (FX48 FX40 / FX580 FX550) are expected to be released around April though of course, they already hit the streets in Japan.
Looks like the FX40 / FX48 is a better buy without going over budget. Supporting the newest Venus Engine V looks quite promising looking at the samples available on dc.watch.impress.co.jp though it is as of the ones from the FX550 are a bit more realistic in terms of color tone in comparison with the FX40. I'm noticing this difference across all samples.

I thought both to be quite similar given the fact that they share the same basic hardware and FX550 just adds more controls to it (and touch control). What you folks think about this?
