I just picked up a used fz5. I have owned 7 cameras and have never found this to be difficult to figure out. But none of the main menus on this camera allow you to format an SD card. It must be some combination of buttons to push, but without a manual, I'm lost.

It is necessary to format the cards you use as this camera still uses the older fat 16 system and SD cards cannot be read unless you re-format it to this camera.

thanks

Page 94 of user manual. Or, on the camera, the last item on the second screen of your 'Play' menu (scroll down after rotate, protect, slideshow, etc.)

Raghu had the right answer.........I thought you may want a copy of the manual.

thanks to both of you...

well that's a first for me, burying the format at the end of the play menu.

after 1 fuji, 3 olympus, 1 canon and now a nikon d40....I never would have looked there

and thanks for the manual!

I had done a check on panasonic's site before posting this...did a search and could not find the FZ5 manual
