Default Sorry - Basic Question: Small Case for FZ1?

This may seem like a very basic question, but I was wondering what other FZ1 owners are doing for a camera case.

I already have a gadget bag that can carry all my FZ1 and Sony video camera gear, and I even have a case that is perfect for carrying all my FZ1 gear. However, what I'm looking for is a very small case that has just enough room for carrying the FZ1 and maybe a spare battery and some memory cards. The problem is that I can't find anything small that's big enough to fit the FZ1 since it has rather square-ish dimensions because of the big lens. I've looked everywhere -- camera stores, Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Circuit City, etc, but everything seems too big for my preferences or too small to fit the FZ1.

Does anyone know of a popular namebrand case (Tamarac, LowePro, Targus, Ambico, etc.) that is very small yet still fits the unusual dimensions of the FZ1 form factor?

Thanks!

Default I have a samsonite

I bring my FZ1 in a Samsonite Trekking bag (internal lebel says D-F/V 2). It's enough for the camera, lens hood, spare battery, filters (2) and SD cards.

I use this leather Olympus case w/ side pocket and zippered top pocket. I keep the hood adapter on the fz1 at all times with a uv filter and there is room to spare in the bag.

I'm using a TAMRAC Velocity 5, would that be small enough? If not, I have a case that I was thinking of putting up on eBay. It will hold the FZ1 w/o the tube adapter attached. There are pockets for batteries, memory cards, etc..., but no room for accessories (filters, tube adapter, lens hood...) If you are interested, let me know and I'll give it to you for $10 (plus shipping, etc...)

It's interesting that Tamrac, LowePro, etc., haven't jumped more in to make something for the small super-zoom line of digicams (small cameras with big noses), especially since that line is getting very popular. About the only thing that's offered is the "holster" style, but those are almost always WAY too big for the FZ1. I really want a square-ish, pouch type case where the main compartment is just big enough for the FZ1 on its side (either facing forward or to the side), and then has a little front pouch for a spare battery and a couple of SD cards. It's annoying that this doesn't exist. I wish Panasonic would put something out. The Tamrac Digital 4 (http://www.tamrac.com/5694.htm) might work (dimensions: 4 W x 2 1/4 D x 6 1/4 H), although the 2.25" depth on it might make it too tight of a fit. It's definitely the type/style that I'm looking for though.

I'm currently using (and really liking) a discontinue Targus mini-briefcase style digital camera bag/case (model DC03).

It has like a dozen moveable padded compartments that nicely hold the camera and all included accessories plus some in a very customized manner. It looks more like a small notebook computer bag than a camera bag. It's a great bag to use as a carry-all, but like most other camera bags, it's a bit bulky for carrying around all the time, especially when you don' t need most of the accessories all the time.

Oh, well...still searching. Thanks for the suggestions so far.

If you just want a well padded bag just for the camera without the lens extention the lowepro AW 25 works well, it has a sewn in rain cover and is easy to get the camera in & out of.
I got a Premier copy for $10 cheaper in the same shop, I am not a cheapskate but it was identical in every respect except for the name.
It is a little deep but i plan to use this space for a small beanbag which is the only gadget i find hard to do without, such a long zoom even with IS still needs as much support as you can get.

Thanks for the responses. I actually found one that fits perfectly -- like a glove -- as if it was made for the FZ1. There are two small pockets on the front of it for batteries/memory cards, too. Of all manufacturers, it's a Coleman. I bought several of them to sell on eBay. If anyone's interested, email or private message me and I'll send you a direct link.

On the beanbag suggestion -- I can't emphasize enough the benefit of having one of those with you. If nothing else, it's a safe surface to temporarily sit your camera down or to rest it on while attaching the lens barrel, etc. If you're really cheap (or can't find the size you want), you can put rice or bird seed in the appropriately sized ziplock bag, and then stitch some scrap material over it. This is what I did because I wanted a small-ish one that would more easily fit in my camera case(s), and couldn't find one that small for sale.

OK - I tried a Lowepro Nova Micro AW and I was less than thrilled.

The stated internal width is 5 inches but on my unit it seemed to be 4.5 inches. This means, as I figure it, that it is overly wide for a vertical FZ1 with no adapter tube, but not wide enough for a vertical FZ1 with the filter adapter+filter+lenscap. The front pocket is very small, and there is no mesh pocket inside the lid.

So it seems too bulky for what it will carry.

I am planning to try two other cases -

1. The Tamrac 5200 as a tiny case for just the tubeless FZ1 and a spare battery and card.

2. A Tamrac "Digital 6" 5696 which I believe has enough width to hold a vertical FZ1 with adapter tube, filter, lenscap, with maybe even the Olympus B-Macro installed too. That would be nice. It has a web pocket inside the lid and an organized front pocket.
