This is a good example as to why the Government is always concerned about inflation during a recession. Businesses are hurt because they are not selling enough so what do they do? Increase their prices to compensate for it.

LOL, good. I paid $339 for mine last September. It could just be a consequence of the exchange rate. The dollar dipped against the yen in the 2nd and 3rd week of May. It's coming back now--let's see if the prices change in the next few weeks.

Could also be supply/demand. Summer vacation season is upon us. People buy cameras.

Good chance that it is the exchange rate as havent you noticed that the price of crude oil (and hence driving up local fuel prices) in USA currency has also undergone rapid increase.

I just posted about this same thing in another post. I'm trying to buy one of these and have been running into a wall constantly. I refuse to buy a silver which are $50 cheaper. Anyone know anything about the replacement coming out next month?
Pass on that info....I bought a Canon SX10...gave up on the Panny.

There might not be a replacement.
It wouldn't surprise me if they were to drop the whole superzoom range and just concentrate on their smaller compacts like the ZS3 and the newish G1/GH1 models.

Are you kidding? Panasonic has built some of the best super zoom cameras out there. I very much doubt they will get out of that market in favor of the DSLR. They have not been that successful on the DSLR segment.
