Default LC5 firmware upgrade what does it DO?

Panasonic Bob said in another thread that the LC5 firmware upgrade is still available. But I am confused as to what it will actually do. All I see from reading this and other forums is that maybe if you feel you need it you can get it and maybe it'll seem better afterwards - and maybe not. :?

But what I'd like to know is what the firmware upgrade actually does. Presumably the programmers who wrote it had an objective and achieved something. What was their design brief and what does the upgraded LC5 do that is different from a non-upgrade version. Technical details please, Bob.

Thanks,
Richard.
