Default Panasonic ZS-3 Surprise in a Small Package

Yes, we already have the Panasonic ZS7 ready to be placed on the dealer's shelves. However, the GPS has substantially reduced the battery life per charge, and the 14 mp has reduced the image quality.

With ZS-3 prices now at an all time low, perhaps, it is time to look once more at the ZS-3, I did. What caused me to re-look at the ZS-3? I had a discussion with an old friend that used to do professional photography with me years ago.

After shooting for years with top line DSLR cameras, three years ago he decided to see what he could do with a simple P+S camera. His latest P+S camera is the ZS-3. Needless to say, his portfolio of photos was fantastic. He shared with me that his goal was to everything with one small P+S camera, and to do away with the multiple camera bodies and multiple lenses.

Well my Goodness! He has really made a huge success from his transition. I am sure that I can never compete with him, but it sounded like a fun kind of challenge. So, this past week, I whipped out the old credit card and took delivery of a new ZS-3 equipped with its wonderful 25mm wide angle lens.

It has been a fun experience. here is a photo sample.

Sarah,

I have seen some wonderful pictures taken with the ZS3. Even with my S90 and now FZ35, I have seriously been considering a ZS3. I don't like to spend money unnecessarily, but even as wonderful as the S90 is, there are times when I suspect I will not want to take the larger FZ35 and will still want more of a zoom than the S90 can provide -- which is why I had initially considered the ZS3 instead of the FZ35. If only the ZS3 had the low light capability of the S90 ... but then it wouldn't be the ZS3. Sigh....
