I like Polls, Australians, Washingtonians, British, etc.
The guys at the fire station said they saw some who were good dancers.

We had a poll taker come to the fire station - - we asked him to leave.

I'd tell you the story of a poll cat but it wouldn't make scents.

It depends on how they are structured and what the benefit is. For example, I've just voted no to yours as none of the answers covered my specific situation, which is that they have to cover all the bases. We don't get many polls, however those we do are often poorly composed so it isn't easy for someone to answer the question, or there isn't a definitive answer so the poll is unhelpful.

There are times when a poll can be good if well composed. Not the best example but one that works is, How often on average to you use your camera. Then as long as all date options are covered from say less than every 6 months to more than once a day then you are going to get meaningful information.

If you have something like which camera brand do you prefer then this could be harder, even if it was only between Nikon and Canon (chosen as they are the big 2). I couldn't answer that as for some areas it is Canon and others it is Nikon.

Greg-

Maybe there is a reason that we do not see many polls posted.

To really be effective and produce reasonable data, they must be very carefully crafted, just as mark1616 suggested.

Exactly, this is why companies pay $$$$$$$s to get them professionally created to be effective. Most of us don't have the ability to do this so the open discussion works better than a poll.

Clint,

Why don't you run some of your ideas up a flag poll and see if anyone salutes?
