Default FZ35 w/ LT-55 1.7x Teleconverter

Hi everyone just wanted to post some inconclusive evidence on the FZ35 w/ TC 1.7x on board...used a tripod and Spot Focus on the top lettering of the sign...performs better than I expected both were in Mode 2 Stabilization...I still take poor pictures due to "old timers" shake and too much coffee...best I could do but the Teleconverter is definitely a keeper and the TeleMacro also...I also tried a HILA 2.2x Teleconverter and it has no where near the optics of the Panasonic LT-55 and lots of distortion also...the Telewide does not work on the FZ35 (yep I was dumb enough to try it)...
100% Crop with Camera only at 18x:

100% with LT-55 TC onboard:

I'll take some shots with a 7D and a Bigma at 500mm to compare also a 400mm Canon with a 1.4TC and see what the outcome is...I think if I could stabilize the FZ35 better it would really be an awesome Birding Camera...Wonder what the 1.7x X 35.2x in camera EZ Zoom equals? 1.7 X 35.2 = 59.84x = ????mm

LT
Did you enable the TC converter option in the FZ35's menu?

Also, were you using the 10 second self-timer?

Lastly it is recommended to switch the OIS to Off when using a tripod.

Yes
No
No the Tripod I am using in the wind sux!!!! (Hakura + 25 mph wind gust)

Somebody with better skills (and decent Tripod and -25 mph winds!) could get great shots with the TC 1.7 X 35.2...I'll mount it on the Manfrotto later and 10 second...I have the 7D and the 150-500 Bigma on the Manfrotto...requires a crane to heft it off lol...

Ok. The 10 second gives the camera/tripod time to steady if the shutter press induces a little shake.

OIS probably won't hurt in those conditions. You can also use program shift to increase the aperture, this of course will reduce diffraction and increase shutter speed.

Wow the 7D a bigma must weight, what 5kg?

You could also use the AF Lock: who knows, with the wind there might be tiny variances even using a tripod and spot focus...

Lastly from my book of endless advice , try the 3-shot 10 second option, or use bracketing, then you can choose the sharpest one. I know with comparisons the challenge is getting most things equal.

Thanks for posting these, fair bit of effort on your part, it is appreciated.
