The moon does rotate, it is just that it rotates at the same speed as it revolves around the earth, so we only ever see the one side of it.

If it didn't rotate, then different parts of the earth would see different sides of the moon.

I had been shooting in RAW only, and then started shooting in RAW+JPG
for lack of previews, and ran into this with my moon shots




For some reason the preview seams more sharp and detailed

I opened the files with both Gimp and Gimp and Photoshop Elements,
with the same results.

-- Looks like from my Google searches, that's normal for a RAW
file, and it will be less sharp looking than a JPEG
