Default A few pictures from my Expedition today

Well after reading LTZ470's post today, it inspired me to go on my own expedition at Hammonassette State Park in Connecticut. Looks like I had an OK day. I still need to learn how to focus better, control EV and compose shots; but here is my best from my outing. I used a TCONN-17 for all the shots.

Feel free to critique.

We have the invasive Monk Parakeets
Rare Hooded Warbler
Great White Snowy Egret ??
Ospreys in the Nest.

Looks like you got some good shots. Were you using a tripod or monopod?
Were you using the EZ modes or what I call "normal" zoom mode for the T-Conn17?

Clint it was all by hand resting the camera on an object of some sort when available.

I mainly shot in P-Mode this time. And I'm not too sure what zoom mode means but I was zoomed in practically all the way.

I really need a monopod as the tripod is quite bulky to hike around with.

If you are shooting a 4:3 picture in high quality the size will be 12mp. Using a full zoom optically will take you up to 18x (times??) zoom. That's what I call the "normal zoom" mode. If you want to "zoom in more" you can change the pixel size say to 2 or 3mp (EZ Mode or Extended Optical zoom) and get as much as 35.2x (times).
So unless you reduced your pixel size, I would assume you were somewhere near or under 18x.

Clint I don't use the extended zoom much. Even though its not actually digital zoom, I am not impressed with it. Its a compromise between digital zoom and actual zoom and I notice significant degradation using the extended zoom although not as much as if I was using digital zoom that is absolutely horrible.

I agree, the digital is pretty cruddy looking. I leave it off. If I want to "digitally" zoom I'll do it on the PC.
