I would imagine there is an issue with vignetting when not in tele mode. I get around this by using the Pemaraal Adapter which will retract to a shorter length, thus avoiding vignetting - similar solution, but with the added benefit that it works with my Olympus TCON.

There shouldn't be but I don't have one so I can say for sure.

Isn't there ANY lens cap, around the world, that fits directly on the lens? It sounds unbelievable!

It does, doesn't it? If you can attach a filter directly to the lens, how come there is no lens cap for it?!? Well, the good news is...there is. The FZ35 lens thread is 46mm. I did some research and found the following site...

http://www.camerafilters.com/pages/lenscaps.aspx

Amazon, B&H and other online retailers have the most common snap-on type 46mm cap but I think they may not work too well when the lens is retracted. There may not be enough room for the side plastic bits to fit inside the lens barrel. However, the site above carry a screw-type metal cap, which should work perfectly on the FZ35/FZ28 lens, and they are cheap also. May be worth a try.

I have noticed that having the hood adaptor on the lens (plus the lens cap) it only needs just a bit for the lens to extent without touching the lens cap, when you power on. I believe that if there was a second or longer hood adaptor attached, the problem would be solved.
The same if the lens cap was a little 'hollow'.
Is that right? Do you know any site (preferably in europe) that these gadgets can be found?
