Default Camera newb :) updated reguarly with my photos

Hey, been reading through this forum since i bought my FZ38 a couple weeks ago. It was a replacement for a sony H20, and im quite enjoying it, though still not convinced yet on picture quality. Probably a user problem rather than the camera i expect. There are far more user options on the Lumix than there ever was on the Sony, and i mainly used that on auto.
Will post up a few pics i have taken so far, comments welcome
Hopefully will be taking the kids to Edinburgh Zoo in the summer, so if anyone can offer some tips on how to get the best photos of the animals, big cats behind thick glass and reptiles in dark rooms etc. I have so far the FZ38, a hoya uv filter and a Hama star 62 tripod.

Flowers and bugs - some of my favorites.
Tips - spot focus and higher shutter speeds for animals.
