i read almost the whole review spanning 20 pages and i was surprised to note that virtually at every comparison they praise the fz35/38 for class leading performance and suddenly at the end they declare sx20 and fz35 to be the joint winners. As far as image quality and ergonomics goes, in every head-to-head of the sx20 and fz35 i have read on the net, the fz is miles ahead of the sx.
Disclaimer: I own a fz35.

I concur. Three things are strange about this group test...

1) SX20's apparently poor performance in low light conditions (see ISO1600 sample of the tower bridge) yet it ranks higher than other cameras.
2) No mention of the Sony HX1.
3) FZ35 announced the winner two days before it's replacement is announced (July 9th).

Looking at the competition , besides Canon , FZ38 really feels like miles away.I mean they are cheaper but still, you dont buy that kind of camera every day . I think conclusion in this test is very good:if you dont need greater zoom then 18x , Pany is def. your choice. Its all-round winner .I bet battery is one of best ,its weights less then any other, its fastest.

FZ38/35 replacement?
I believe its just rumors, this as Panasonic have not announced anything this past week.
Some people are expecting an announcement because this time last year they announced the FZ38/35!
