Default FZ10 full tele variations?

There seems to be wide variations in the amount of CA and softness problems in full tele FZ10 pics posted around the net. Some shots have little if any of either and some have much of both.
Three causes come to mind. .

1. Aperture differences. One would expect a f2.8 pic to have more problems than a f5.6 one

2. Subject matter. Clearly the nature of pics will influence such issues.

3. FZ10 Quality Control. Some cams just might be better "aligned" - whatever the digital equilavent might be.

Has anyone either analyzed this problem or have opinions on the issue?? An analytical sort of images and aperture could probably either confirm or reject 1. as a source. # 2. would be more subjective to define. But if # 3 is the probable culprit, both the decision and location of purchase would be impacted greatly.
Any observations, facts or opinions would be appreciated.
