Default FZ35 Upgrade==FZ100?

Rumor flying around the net about the replacement for the FZ35 bypassing FZ40 moniker and going all the way to 100.

No, the FZ45 has already been leaked. This is an additional model, possibly a FZ50 true bridge upgrade to combat the HS10

2c:

The optical zoom range as shown on the lens of the "FZ48" is 4.8-86.4, the same as the current model FZ35/8. This is a 18x zoom.

The optical zoom range as shown on the lens of the "FZ-100", is 4.8-144, or 30x zoom.

As the photo of the FZ-100 appears to show an identical camera/lens to the FZ35/8/46, one wonders if this might be a doctored photo. Surely to achieve a 30x zoom a different physical lens and form factor for the camera would be required?

Particularly as the FZ100 photo shows the same minimum aperture as the current camera, which is extremely unlikely for a 30x lens.

All conjecture of course!

I'm not sure why I'm so interested in these new Pany offerings. When they come out, it'll still be awhile before I buy one. Having said that, I still feel like a kid on Christmas eve,.....I can hardly wait.

I think the reason I'm so interested is because the FZ35 is simply the best and most fun camera I've ever owned,.....I sure hope they stick with the small and handy form factor, and the exceptional lens quality.

Agreed Jack - I guess should Panasonic notice these posts they would be chuffed - it is obvious when Brand Loyalty has been achieved; I am in the process of recommending a new LCD TV for my father, and a Panasonic is at the top of my list.

I too will not be in any position to upgrade my FZ35 for quite some time (nor logically should there be any need to, for I admit I am far from mastering it, even though I felt very comfortable with my old now deceased FZ18).

But as a fan of cameras, technology, and Panasonic, I am also quite excited following the almost daily developments!

PS I get my daily updates mostly from 1001 Noisy cameras dot com, an excellent and often humorous camera news aggregation site.

All the best
Greg

I supposed PS can take care of the model # quite easily. So, let's pick a number and turn that FZ100 into it, shall we?!?

Only time will tell us more. I like the suggested time frame of the end of July.

I'm guessing Full HD would be 1080p instead of the 720p the FZ35 does. That would be cool. Assuming the picture isn't faked.
