Greg,

Rumors now say that the LX5 and FZ100 will be announced July 21st. That will be very interesting for me. Nothing is very clear yet but I'm really wondering if there will be two FZs, one like the FZ35 and another with very long zoom. I hope they do both. I'd personally hate for the FZ35 to put on weight and size in order to compete. It has a great lens, fine IQ and excellent videos. I know they can't stop while they are ahead,.........but I hope they don't abandon the form factor that put them on top of the long zoom field.

Here's the spec page for the panasonic lx5

glancing over the specs, compared to lx3, increase in zoom to 3.8x, AVCHD video recording

I don't get it: Why can't they integrate stereo mics? It works with the TZ and FZ models ...
Makes no sense to me!

actually you really do not want an integrated mic. In body mic pick up the lens zooming and af motor working even with very silent motors. Off body you do not hear that stuff.

I don't want the companies to "think" for me. Let the customer decide what's best for him in any given situation. It's about having options ...

At the end of the day all companies do think for the customer, because the customer are not the ones designing these things, so they need to think what would work. If the FZ does not work there are other option on the market if they do not meet your requirements. So there are options.

the lx5 will go up against the g11, as it is a larger camera.
