Default Editing .MOV format video from FZ38

New to the forum, new to this camera.

Last week took my first movies (using .MOV format) - then found that supplied software does not seem to recognise Motion JPEG. My problem was a 8 minute clip that I wanted to trim because the first 6 minutes was my video & the other 2 minutes was me talking & taking pictures of my feet cos I had not actually stopped recording! Doh!!

Anyway I found a very useful free download which does a very simple & quick job - called Free Video Dub, from DVDVideoSoft

http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/guides/d...eo-editing.htm

No frills, nothing fancy, but very straightforward. Might be useful to someone else out there.

Doesn't work for me...says it doesn't support the codec!!

Is there any loss of quality when converted??

Hi
don't really understand the problem. I just downloaded the Video Dub programme form the link I gave above & installed it & it works fine. It does not (that I am aware) convert anything - I use it just to trim/edit .MOV files to get rid of bits I don't want, or to make short clips from a longer film for uploading eg to Flickr (which only accepts 90sec videos).

Has anyone a bit more techie that me tried it?
