I'll take one of each...thank you Panasonic...but it sure will make the price of the FZ35 very interesting? and tempting I'm sure? The FZ35 is nothing short of amazing for my part...

LTZ is very correct-

Once the new models are announced/and/or available the FZ-35 price just like the price of the current LX3 (the LX5 has been announced) will probably begin to fall.

Can someone more knowledgble than me add the current FZ35/38 specs to this comparison? From the FZ40 specs I may just get the soon to be heavily discounted FZ35 instead and save some money.

Joe,

If you don't need or want the burst modes and full HD video, you'd probably like the FZ35 as much as the FZ40,.....maybe more since it's somewhat lighter.

From what I've learned, the FZ40 has only the following upgrades:

3" screen vs 2.8

24X vs 18X

video divide

Slightly wider lens

I love my FZ35 and would not upgrade to the FZ40, but I will to the FZ100 since I want the new speed features.

It appears to me that except for the lack of a manual zoom ring, the FZ100 is finally the camera I've been waiting for to replace my FZ50.

It's interesting that different features are important to us. I can see the desirability of a manual zoom ring. For me, however, it would make it impossible to occasionally use the camera and zoom with one hand.

I usually wait for all sorts of reviews and analysis before I buy a new camera. This time, I didn't. I've come to trust the Panasonic system and the Leica lens. I ordered an FZ100 yesterday. I will be very surprised, and disappointed, if it isn't the best digital camera I've ever had. I especially value the burst modes, the "intelligent zoom", and the HD video. I don't like the extra weight, 19oz vs 14oz FZ35,.....but all those features and long lens are worth it, I think.

Default Too Early

Still far too early to tell....... that MOS sensor is still very much an unknown entity for still photography.
I would suggest that one waits for actual users to report back and confirm how it performs!!
