Default Question about replacing FZ35 Lens Hood

Recently bought a FZ35 for my wife - she loved her old FZ8, but wanted to upgrade. Lens hood on FZ35 is NOT reversible (it was on the FZ8), so it takes up a lot of room in her camera bag when the lens hood is attached. Anyone find a supplier for a smaller lens hood, preferably a rubber one that is collapsible, and a rubber eyepiece for the EVF? Or perhaps most people don't even bother using the lens hood????

I have NEVER used the lens hood on my FZ35 and I take pics outside all the time. Perhaps I should try it and see if it makes a difference but so far, I'm happy.

Ditto on that. If I have a situation where there's some strong glare coming into the lens from above or the side, I've become fairly adept at using my left hand to block out the sun - otherwise, I just take the snap.

I am wondering if it matters a lot as well. I only attached it once when I bought it, but never took it out of the box again after I removed it.

I used mine once ….. it never provided me with much advantage, and have never used it since.
When I am in a difficult position I use my hand or cap. This is far easier than having to have the
large hood with me all the time.

Hello Sarah,

I see cheap ones on E-bay as well, but could you please tell me how many mm lenshood is required for the FZ38 / 35 ?

Honnes-

That would be 46mm size if the lens hood were attached directly to the lens, or to the 46mm filter mounted to the lens.

New Tuxedo-

I would try the FZ-28 lens hood on the FZ-35/38, as both cameras have the same dimensions.
