Was it a nice sunny day? If not the cpl is not that effective. And all it does is add 2-3 f stops slowing down your shutter speed. Also to get the best effect with a cpl. You need to shoot perpendicular to the sun.

Thanks and nope was a bit overcast and the sun was a little to the right of the pic that was taken.....so a sunnier day would have been more effective then

yup, it works better on sunny day to bring out the blue in the sky. The CPL are pretty useless on overcast days for bring out the blue in the sky. For what you are using it for, you need a sunny day.

They can also add reflection or take away reflection, so that is the other uses of a cpl. I use them for shooting through glass windows. But the key is get a good one, the cheapo ones just adds to degrading the photo when shooting through glass.

Actually if you want to learn more about shooting with a cpl. Youtube has some good ones. A member from the board photos good one there, just check youtube for this name. Binary Graphite and dslrtips.com has a good one also.

Your welcome

the dslrtips.com has it on their website. But it is not as technical as the one form Binary Graphite.
