Default FZ35-Lens Adapter and Telephoto vs. direct Telephoto

Hi,
I found some telephoto lens online that are 46mm in size. Do these work if directly screwed on the lens of FZ35 or a DMW-LA3 adapter is required for telephoto lens?
Has anyone tried 46mm Telephoto lens directly on the FZ35 lens?
Also, after attaching DMW-LA3, does it accept 46mm lenses or is too big for 46mm size?
Thanks for clarification.

the lens motor and mechanism is not designed for the weight of another lens. There is the very real risk of damage. Use of the adapter is best.

Thank you for information Chillgreg.
BTW, what size is the FZ35 barrel (not the lens) that DMW-LA3 plugs in and what is the size on the adapter's end?
I'm guessing both larger than 46mm since it accepts DMW-LT55 (so 55mm is the outer end?).
Thanks again.

The Outer barrel on the FZ35 has an inner female thread of 55.8mm and the LA3 male threads into this and then the LA3 has 55mm female threads on the end of it that accpets the 55mm male threads of the LT-55 or the LC55 or the TCON-17...
If you use the Nikon E17ED then you would require a 55mm male by 60mm female "step-up" adapter as the Nikon E17ED has 60mm male threads on the rear of the lens...

Thanks for information LTX470.
So basically, as long as the adapter to screw in FZ35 has 55.8mm threads, the other end can be adjusted with step-up/down rings depending on telephoto lens.
Also, I wanted to know whether close-up lens kits can be used as alternative to macro lens.
These are very cheap at amazon.com.
Thanks
