I've been using the software that came with the camera (PHOTOFUNSTUDIO) and it's been very simple to use. I've burned a few HD videos on dvd with no problems.....I'm using a windows 7 machine Pentium 3.40 ghz with 3gb a ram

Clint I tried downloading the VLC to DVD converter but the webpage just locks-up ("Not Responding..."). Multiple scripts etc. Any direct link to just the converter?

As for the OS I'm using, it's Vista which might be part of the reason I'm having to put effort into this.

Just went to VSO to purchase convertxtodvd but don't see where it supports .mts files. I know, over-worryin' here but is .mts ALWAYS considered AVCHD (which is supported)?

Sorry for the bad info.

Maybe this program could work for you.

You can download the trial version & test it, it will leave a watermark on the video.

I just had a look in the convertxtodvd forums, it does support .mts files from panasonic camera's,

The latest free version of Windows Live Movie Maker can import the .mts files and burn DVD's, even upload direct to YouTube.
