Wow... the price of the FZ40 on Amazon is falling by the day... now it's down to $349. Wondering if demand for this camera is not what Panasonic anticipated.

Hello, new egg doesn't offer the fz35 at this time, just fyi and ecrater doesn't have them either.

Looks like the answer to your question about which camera to buy has been staring you in the face at all times. Nothing really has changed. Mainly, which ever camera you decide to buy, learn how to use it. There are many wonderful and great PIXes on this site from all sorts of cameras - new and old.

However, it does show what I mentioned last week: the remaining inventory of FZ-35's is selling out quickly.

fz40 sells for reaally good price right now($332 last time i checked).. and fz35 has bumped up to $320-30. So i think there is no point to buy fz35 anymore.. even warehouse sells them for 320 dollars/... last week they had them for $270.

If you go through the specs of both, FZ35 has 43mp/cm2 and FZ40 has 50mp/cm2 pixel density with same sensor size. From what I read, the lower the pixel density, the better the picture and low light performance.

Also, the spec says FZ35 has 2.8fps continuous drive vs only 1.8fps on fZ40. FZ40 is also heavier by almost 100g.
But regardless the specs, whichever takes better pictures, that's the one to keep.
