Default Noise 'reduction' +/- ?

I am a little puzzled, to REDUCE noise, you go + or -? I suppose +.
Right or wrong?

I asked a related question in another thread. It appears 0 does not mean 'no reduction' but 'default reduction' so '-' means you want the camera to do even less than that. You'd do that if you think the default setting is still removing too much detail with the noise and/or you think you can do a better job of noise reduction yourself later on. I personally have it set on -2 and use Topaz Denoise later on the PC if it needs it.

Does anyone know if noise reduction works on RAW shooting mode? I'm guessing no.
