Default FZ40 EVF questions

How does the EVF on the FZ40 compare in terms of size and clarity to the optical viewfinder on an entry level DSLR such as a Canon 1000D?

Is the shooting information (F number, shutter speed, ISO) displayed in the EVF and if it is where does it appear?

Is there an indicator in the EVF to show that focus has been achieved when the shutter button is depressed half way?

I can't compare it to the Canon but can answer your last 2 questions.
I wear reading glasses but the EVF has a diopter focus and I can see it clearly without my glasses.

All the information is displayed around the edges of the display area in the EVF- (F number, shutter speed, ISO) are at the bottom.

A green dot will appear when focus is achieved.

You can download the manual here http://panasonic.cameratips.com/fz40...ic-fz40-manual

The EVF is a duplicate of what appears on the LCD screen.

It's WAY worse than an optical if you are trying to focus on, say, a small bird in a tree at full zoom. That is very hard to do on any EVF.

If you are interested in FZ40 for the importance of its EVF then I suggest you check it out first. I found it to be small and harder to use than EVF's of past cameras (C2100, Sony F717 & even FZ7).
