Default SX30IS and FZ40 - with flash

Here are comparisons on the FZ40 and SX30IS.
Using flash
ISO 80
Handheld
FZ40 - contrast-0 Sharp-0 NR-0 Saturation-+1
SX30 - color mode set to "positive film" ("recreates the vivid colors of shooting with film")
P mode

clint - it's really hard to say (for me, and you know I'm no expert). The SX30 seems a bit washed out and flat, but maybe it has a more powerful flash. I'll wait to see some of your outdoor and closeup shots. I don't like the colors in the second shot, but the last one looks nice.

The flash does seem a bit brighter. They are both on Auto flash. Probably a step down on the SX30 would help it some.

fz40 seems to have more depth and color while the canon seems to have washed out colors like saly said, a bit too light, its almost as if they were taken with a CP camera

It was that more powerful built-in flash, Clint-

That allowed you to catch the Titmouse bird at the bird house yesterday. The SX-30 may need some further adjustment, but it is looking good.
