That is a nice selection of SX-30 photos. Thanks for posting. It is important to get a camera that works best for you personally.

Thanks Sarah!

In fact, I got more than 95% of the snaps right. Yes. It is struggling a bit in the indoor. But I have a Fuji F30 which does that job fantastically.
So I have no worries about SX30IS indoor performance.

Overall I am happy with my purchase.

varap - just one other thing....the lcd screen is 2.7 inches with lower resolution compared to fz's 3 inches with higher resolution....not sure if you had fz100 in your hands before u chose canon...but any difference?

When I went to the shop to buy SX30, I had a chance to look at FZ100 also. Yes, you are right.. the LCD screen and EVF on FZ100 are better than SX30's. But you know, its a trade-off.
In my opinion both are good cameras with almost similar IQ. But SX30 has an edge with effective 35X zoom and IS. Believe me, some of the photos I posted here were taken at almost full zoom without a Tripod, which came out very well I feel.

I am not a pro or atleast don't know the advanced basics of photography. So for me, ease of use is also important and same time I shouldn't miss the manual controls which are important when I gained some expertise. I heard, there is learning curve involved incase of FZ100.

There is a picture comparison available at the following link using which you can compare FZ100 and SX30 picture quality.

All the best.

Here are a few more examples of the SX30 I took today.

All are SOOC

Look for the birdie - top branch - he's a mockingbird watching over his territory

At full optical zoom - he was about 30 to 40 feet away.

Clint-

This set of photos seem to have a bit better sharpness, and much better color from the Canon SX-30. Thanks for posting them.

Hi!

Im choosing between SX30 and FZ100. What is fastest to "catch the moments"? (shutter lag, shot to shot delay)

Thanks a lot!
