If speed is your concern, go for FZ100. It is a fast camera when compared to SX30.

I was using the SX30 this morning trying out the flash. It really had problems focusing in the early morning light. When I tried the FZ35 it had no problem at all focusing. I can't speak for the FZ100 on that aspect but SX30 being used in darkened areas definitely had problems focusing.

USA Panasonic web page for the fz100 is offering the camera for $299.95 - I'm ready to buy it. Would there be some kind of marketing/flow in camera reason they are doing this?

WOW - and the FZ40 is $239.

The FZ40 at Amazon is still $324.

Those are great prices. No idea why unless they aren't selling well.

Well, this didn't last long. There is an error in the USA Panasonic sites - all cameras are discounted. They are fixing it and they are not honoring the mistake

The guy who answered my call said that if they honor all the orders they would get broke!!!

I will place the order with Amazon very soon.

Thanks for all the info in this threat. I found it very enjoyable and informative. I was leaning towards the Panasonic and now if I lean any further I'll fall...
