I believe you have to be in "A" aperture priority to adjust aperture, and "S" for shutter priority. "P" only lets you adjust ISO, metering, focus area, etc.

No, you can do it in P mode. You need to focus first though by half pressing the button. Then release the button and immediately push the joystick up or down, Then you should see the shutter/aperture numbers changing.

Hey guys. Took a couple during cross country. Much improved- but the weather was not cooperating at all (overcast, drizzly, dark). Many thanks for the help. I ended up using the sports mode outside for some, as well as the burst mode.

Here's one from the meet (like I said the weather wasn't cooperative) and another one I took a couple days ago.

Both are great shots! Good color and very sharp. I really like the boys taking off!

Thanks saly. Headed to a basketball game tonight... which means a new photography challenge for sure.

What a great composure shot of the race start. I found myself drawn to the look of determination on each of the kids faces.

Fantastic

Thanks for the compliments guys. Really appreciate it. I took the start of the race in burst mode, it's really interesting to see them in sequence.

Took more pics from the game last night, I'll load them tonight to see which settings worked best. From the looks of it on the camera's screen, saly's recommendation to use the indoor sports setting seems to have taken the best shots.
