Default Fz35 may be discontinued

Hi all , if you had read my other post i was saying about the fz35 which is currently out of stock , today i spoke with B&H and they told me that they are waiting still to get the information about the stock from panasonic and he said that it may be discontinued ... What do you think ? how can a camera like this be discontinued in such a short period ? Does anyone here have official info from panasonic ? I am curious cause i am waiting to buy one but if something like this happens then i guess i will go for the fz40 which means that panasonic will accomplish their goal which was for the customers to buy the new untrusted fz40 over the trusted fz35 model. Whats your opinions ? (Sorry for the long post )

I think the FZ40 is starting to show itself to be just as good as the FZ35/38 so if I was buying now I'd have no worries about getting the FZ40.

Correct the IQ on the FZ40 is very good...and the ergonomics are even better...

I would agree. from what i have seen the FZ40 and FZ35 are about as close as it gets in IQ, just with the FZ40 you get the better ergo LTZ talks of and more flexible zoom even if you don't always need the added reach, can be nice.

There are two things i am concerned about in fz40 noise cause of increased mpixels and barrel distortion , i saw that is has less battery consumption than fz35 due to the new electronics though and some more extras. If the mpixels are reduced to 12 will it be the same as fz35 or since the zoom on the lens is higher the change on the images is significant ?

i think you should not really worry about it. the noise difference is negligeable and all superzooms have barrel distortion which you can easily fix in post.

really not a significant difference in IQ that it would ever matter for the most part.

my advice is to stop worrying about minute detail differences, and realize there are alot of positives and start shooting.
