Default Take a Hike!!

If you ever get up around Asheville NC try to take a hike on the Art Loeb Trail.
It's right off the Blue Ridge Parkway and has a spectacular view all along the trail.

I never get tired of going on this trail. The last time my wife and I went we got caught in a thunderstorm. We got a bit worried about lightning walking in the open trail.

Take the Black Balsam Knob Rd just off the Parkway. Drive about 3/4's of the way up and there is a small pull-off on the right. If you go to the end with the parking lot you've gone too far. There is a very small trail marker on the right.

This is in the Shining Rock Wilderness area.

Clint,...these are very nice. Some of your other threads were starting to bug me.

That's only because it was too windy to take bug pictures on the trail.

I've never been to NC (actually have never spent much time on the east coast), but I will take sure to check this out if I'm ever out that way. What a view!
