A full bloom hibiscus looked like an antenna to me.

what settings were used here? mostly interested in zoom, ISO aperture and shutter speed

No, it wasn't that dark. The tall tree picture was captured after this. The problem here is that the flower was under shade and shot from quite a distance. I was actually wondering about the powerful zoom of FZ28. I was shooting in P mode only.

ohhhh, P-mode.. perhaps using M mode with the right settings would have served you better

I doubt. I greatly rely on the P mode (which is much better than the iA mode) and have used the other modes moderately. If you look at the photo closely, noise is there only in the background, which is even further back by about 5-6 feet or more. The flower and its plant are fine. Under the prevailing conditions, and at such distance, I would have got the same results in Manual mode too. What I could have done to improve the photo is reduce noise through a noise reduction programme. Let me try that when I go home this evening.
