Default Time lapse video with FZ35

Hi all, there is going to be a meteor shower in Monday to Tuesday which is going to be visible from Greece where i am. So i thought it would be a good chance to take a video and create a time lapse video of the meteors coming down. Do you have any suggestions on how to take one? For example how long should i leave the camera on? What settings to use so that i can get a good image and so on.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions !!

just don't use MJPEG, use the AVC HD or wtv, as the MJPEG stops at a 2GB file, or about 8 minutes? while the other is half the size per minute and you can fill the mem card
