Glad you tried anyway. i was out and got some not-so-clear shots. There's one person posting here using his canon 1D with long telephoto. Really good! I found i had to watch the exposure very closely as the moon darkened 9into the umbra more fully). eventually i was up to 4 seconds at f/8 iso200

sorry i had the wrong ideas for exposure in an earlier post in this thread. i was trying to use my star experience for the moon. very wrong. but chimping quickly allows correction.

my idea of using my remote from inside to trigger the camera was a no-go. i guess i better get it a new battery.

Default Zooming problem

I purchased the ZS7 a few months ago. I am now having problem with the zoom function. Been getting the following messages on my screen when I try to zoom. " please turn camera off and then on again" and " system error ( zoom).

Turning camera off usually retract the lens into the camera body. Nothing happen and I have to gently push the lens back into the body and the protector would slide over to cover the lens.

Zoom defective????

Thanks for any advice,

japhoto

Have any small children been touching it with sticky fingers? Maybe dribbled a little juice on it? If not, looks like the zoom may be going or is gone. Try a reset. If that doesn't work, leave the battery out for 24 hours and try it.

Gary,

Is there a reset button on the camera? Wasn't able to find any information on resetting the camera.

Thanks,
Dennis

Don't give up JD, certain times the Moon actually glows and the camera really can't see any details...certain times the conditions are right and you'll get a huge amount of details Spot Focus/Spot Metering...but always try Center Focus/Center Weighted Metering too just to get an idea if more details can be extracted...this one was with the TC-E17ED on board the FZ40

No. You'll find it in the menus.
