Default Best settings for the beach/seaside/bright sunlight

Am thinking of taking the kids to the Coast over New Years and was wondering if any members have had experience with beach/bright sunlight/water shots?

Usually its very very sunny, and the refections everywhere cause photos to come out with shadows.

Any helpful suggestions??

get good with fill flash. or for posed shots, get everyone in open shade. the shadows will kill your noon or early afternoon shots. for building shots, get out at sunup or sunset. at this moment in time i don't see any us coast where the beach is pleasant. maybe south florida later on today. i wish i was there.

are you reading KR?

my personal thoughts are contrast adjustments or dynamic range business are best done pp. if you have time, you could test it yourself.
