Jim-

Firstly, welcome to the Panasonic P+S forum. Make yourself comfortable, this is a unique forum were we share friendliness, help, and a good measure of learning.

OK, the photo in question, and there are several others, was taken with the FZ40 using the High Sensitivity Scene Mode. It is a resolution restricted Scene Mode that gives you 3mp images. That is good enough for a small size photo to post online. However, I use Adobe Photoshop Elements to bring the phot back to a normal 12mp image size in case I want to use the photo again later in a larger print. Format size makes no difference in the set-up.

Jim-

Yes, a printed manual would be nice, but it NOT going to happen, so we have to learn to get along with computer based .pdf based manuals, as every camera manufacturer is doing just that.

Take some High Sensitivity Scene Mode shots, and I will help you with it. The most important issue is to get out there shooting and learning your camera.
