Default heading to the beach in 24 hours with FZ100

I have read some great tips but I am still confused...

1) Dumb question but what is AV Mode and how do I get into it?

2) Am I better off with manual focus or one of the presets

3) Mostly will be taking photos during bright sunny days - any suggestions

Thx so much in advance

1) I don't have an "AV" setting on my FZ35, but could you be referring to the video mode?

2) Stay away from manual focus until you are really good with the camera. Use P for now, which is the easiest, or iA (fully auto).

3) If you are a total newbie with the camera, you may want to just select the beach scenery mode where all the settings are already selected. iA mode should work fine too. Or, use the P mode and select ISO value of 80 or 100 if it's a sunny day (200 or maybe 400 if very cloudy). Use AWB setting, center area (not point) focus and metering.

I don't have AV mode on my FZ100 either. Are you sure you are not talking about IA mode?

Thats "A" Mode for Aperture Priority...yes thats great, but for bright sun around f/4 will still give you a fast shutter speed...

Use Standard setting, set Contrast to 0...Sharpness to +2...Saturation -1...NR -1 or -2 (I like -2)

Set you Intelligent ISO to Max 200...Stabilisation to Mode 2...keep your camera very steady during and just after the shots the FZ100 is an "Advanced Point & Shoot" and takes some skill to get the best from it...
