Default FZ35 - definition of UGLY

In another thread, I posted some shots of small birds at the feeder early this morning. While getting those shots, some Wild Turkey arrived. This is not an usual event. They come to feed on leftover sunflower seeds, or corn kernels. Seeing they were interested, I got a little corn to put down, and they came to feed for a short time.

The early morning sun put them in very bright sunlight, almost too mulch. The sun really made some interesting colors on their feathers, a shimmering of green and red. However, despite the interesting colors, these are the most ugly things around! Hence, "definition of ugly!" We may not be able to define ugly, but I think we know it when we see it.

These were shot on P, on a tripod, some at 18X, others at less X. I was disappointed in some respects of not capturing the color on their head. As Spring arrives, they will get more color on their head. And, I hope to get some toms at work in the next couple of weeks.

There are two sets, the first of the birds themselves. If these don't help define ugly, then look at the next set.

Thanks.

Ahh Sorry man. Those are some nice looking hens that you have there. Give it time there will be a Gobbler out there one day. Especially as April gets closer. Love the way the green looks on their feathers. I don't think those pictures are bad at all.

Great pictures! No wonder Ted Nugent calls those things thunder chickens.

Oh come on, they are so ugly to the point of being cute..

If you don't look at the faces, their feathers are very pretty. Nice shots.

Roger53 – I think these are great! I would give anything to have wild turkeys in my yard. We have turkeys around here, but they are very elusive. Only time I have got a shot of turkeys was in the Smoky Mountains. If you have time I would love to see a crop of just the head and neck on #3. Thank you for sharing these “ugly” but beautiful creatures.
