Thank you Sarah, that means a lot.
Thank you too, Ash. I was shooting in Shutter Priority mode, between 1/200th and 1/320th. The bright conditions allowed me to shoot at these speeds without having to adjust the EV too much.
Thanks Mick, I wasn't really expecting much because I was running out of memory and had to cut my morning short, so I was very happy with the way they turned out. There's a lesson for all you kids out there, EXTRA MEMORY CARD!!

I should add that I changed the Aspect Ratio to 3:2 so all the shots were at 12.5 MP instead of the full 14MP.

Two more from today. The duck pic wasn't one of my favorites, but I did want to show how the FZ40 captured the feather details. The dove I thought was just a cute pic.

Craig - these are fantastic! The very first one is just a great capture, and love the expression in the second. Really nice job! How close were you to these birds?

Those are great photos. Sometimes pictures of mallards can look a bit expressionless but the duck in the first shot looks sharp and alert and the duck in the second looks really happy. I love the second one!

I just got my own FZ40 a few days ago and have been having a lot of fun with it. Still no pictures as good as these though.

By the way, I love this forum. All the pictures and comments posted here made me finally decide on a camera. Something I've been struggling with forever.

Thanks Saly, I guess I was about fifteen to twenty feet away, give or take.
Thanks Kerina, and welcome to the forum. I'm sure you will enjoy your new toy!

Craig, I have the utmost respect for anybody that can make a duck shot interesting, and you have done that. Thank you!

Welcome to the forum Kerina

If you haven't already done so, look for Sarah's beginners guide for the fz40/45, it will tell you how to set the camera up so you have the best chance of getting really good results.
